Corriere della Sera – Lombarda H, the Culture of Disinfection

The current phase demands qualified companies and products to help restart the country, and the Milan-based company Lombarda H markets certified virucidal and bactericidal products to address the emergency.

Today, the cleaning and disinfection sector is in the spotlight due to the Covid-19 emergency. Among the companies providing their extensive expertise is Lombarda H, a disinfection product manufacturer based in Abbiategrasso, near Milan. The company’s long history began in the 1980s, initially providing logistical and commercial support for medical products. A major shift came in the late 1990s with the launch of its own production line and, more recently, its expansion through the acquisition of the professional brand Amedics, now fully integrated into its customer offerings.

"We have always been in the healthcare field," says Elisabetta Ancarani, Technical Director responsible for production and development, "and Lombarda H boasts some unique achievements. We are the only alternative to the better-known Amuchina with our production of electrolytic active chlorine, which derives from sodium chloride processing and offers advantages such as being a purer and more active product." Additionally, the company offers hand sanitizing gels and other products registered as medical devices and disinfectants for instruments, surfaces, and environments.

"Our two lines cover all environments. The LH line is intended for hospitals, while LH Amedics is specifically designed for the professional sector, catering to areas where qualified, registered products are needed, such as dental offices, hair salons, beauty centers, and wellness centers," adds Ancarani. This highly specialized production emphasizes R&D with a clear mission: to promote a culture of disinfection across various sectors. "We organize training courses to educate people on the best disinfection techniques. This is undoubtedly a unique period for us. We are receiving numerous requests from entities now recognizing the need for specific, effective disinfection procedures," says Elisabetta, who foresees growing interest in disinfection for the future. "The message is finally getting through that there must be a greater understanding in this field. That's why we are constantly innovating, with many new products in the registration process—both for skin and surfaces, all certified and tested. This represents a significant financial investment, as all certifications require a lengthy, complex process, from product validation to efficacy testing."
